Tech for good

These stories promote Slalom’s public sector and pro bono work. For the “Fighting COVID” story, I interviewed the Public Health Commissioner for the City of Chicago and the head epidemiologist for the Chicago Dept. of Public Health.

Case studies

All stories feature Slalom partnerships. The most notable thing about the Snowflake Data Cloud piece is how fast it sailed through the stakeholder-approval process. We’re talking blue skies, smooth water, fair wind sailing. I had fun interviewing data experts and learning about this product. The Prolife Foods and MV Transportation stories showcase Slalom’s partnership with Microsoft and the firm’s work developing Microsoft Power Apps apps. Prolife Foods was a client based out of the new Slalom office in Sydney, Australia.

Slalom senior leader Q&As

Profiles of Slalom general managers

Employer-branding content

This type of content is always fun to write because I get to interview enthusiastic early career professionals. I successfully pitched the story about Slalom’s cloud residency program to internal stakeholders and senior leaders—and wrote it without doing any additional interviews. (I completed the original interviews to write content for the page describing the program—not for a proper story featuring the people in the program.)

Ghostwriting for technical experts

I interviewed SMEs to write this thought leadership content for them, to be published on the Slalom Business blog on Medium. Complete title of article on the left: “Investing in People Analytics Brings High Returns” — on the right: “Optimize your M&A process with the Boomi M&A Accelerator.” For the post on the Boomi product, I likened an M&A to an organ transplant. The SME thought the lede “conveyed weakness” and changed it. The SME I interviewed for the other piece loved the first line of the post… all in a day’s work. : )

Slalom 2020 CSR report (published Nov. 2021)

I created the framework for Slalom’s second corporate social responsibility (CSR) report, published in November of 2021. Senior leaders wanted a journalistic-style storytelling approach for this year’s report, since it was such a tumultuous year with the protests and the pandemic. I’m proud of the result and the format I conceptualized for this report.
